About Michael Dempsey

Michael Dempsey is a cybersecurity and risk leader with 20+ years of experience helping government agencies and enterprises reduce exposure and meet rigorous compliance standards. He previously served as Chief Security Officer for the Massachusetts Department of Health & Human Services and has held senior consulting roles with Motorola, SGT, Sigma Systems, CSC, and BearingPoint, where he assessed applications, systems, and infrastructure for compliance with multiple standards to identify organizational risk and provide remediation recommendations.

Michael partners closely with executives, business stakeholders, and vendors to define needs, evaluate solutions, and introduce tools and best practices that drive awareness, mitigate threats, and ensure safe computing across complex environments. An expert and experienced leader, he guides teams of assessors that assess controls and infrastructure, communicates issues and risk, and implements policies, standards, and strategies aligned to frameworks including FISMA, SOX, DIACAP, GLBA, HIPAA, and NIST. Michael holds CISA, CISSP, PMP, and is one of the first Certified CMMC Assessors (CCA)s.
